barrier-free access to wilhelmshöhe palace

The main entrance of Wilhelmshöhe Palace (Old Masters Gallery and Collection of Antiquities) is ramped. The Palace features a lift providing level access to all exhibition rooms and the café in the basement. The basement also features wheelchair-accessible toilets and cloakrooms.

As the Palace is situated in a historical park, the approach to the building is somewhat trickier. If you arrive by car, we recommend approaching via Kaleschenweg (c. 100 m below the Palace plateau when arriving from the direction of the city centre), which is equipped with a gate and a phone pillar. Using it will inform our office of your arrival. Please let them know what you require; we will open the gate for you and alert our staff at the museum entrance. You will find parking spaces on the right-hand side close to the Palace. If required, our staff will meet you to provide level access to the museum or direct you to a more convenient parking area. Wheelchairs are available free of charge from the museum.

To ensure a stress-free visit, we recommend informing us in advance by phone or email of your intended visit. We will be happy to provide all the help we can.  (besucherdienst@museum-kassel.de, phone +49 (0) 561 316 80-123, Mon – Fri 09:00-15:00).

For the guided tours, radio aids are available for hard of hearing and deaf visitors. The equipment is designed for groups of up to 12. Please inform us of your visit in advance.

The museum provides both portable and fixed seating. There are audio guides for the museum's collections, available in English and German (fee: 3 Euro). Baby-changing facilities are available next to the toilets/washrooms in the basement.

Guide dogs are welcome in the exhibition rooms.
